As Omoro residents are voting for the new Omoro County MP, opposition parties, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and National Unity Platform (NUP), decry the arrest of their polling agents.
According to NUP, their supervisors and polling agents, who include Hon. David Kalwanga, Comrade Faridah Nabatanzi, Comrade Maiso Peter, and other local agents, have been arrested by security operatives.
For FDC, they claim that dozens of their agents were arrested last night. Lubangakene Agustine, the party general secretary of Omoro District, was reportedly tortured into a coma and detained at Omoro police station without medical attention.
Over 38,000 voters are expected to cast their ballots to find a replacement for former MP and Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, who died in Seattle in March this year.
