NEWS,:MEDIC'S RESUME WORK IN FEAR LOOSING JOBS .


Following the directives from minister of public service,Mukasa Muruli,All medic's countrywide have reported for work in fear of being sacked. 

The president of Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union (UNMU), Justus Cherop Kiplagat ordered all the members to resume work on Monday as a way of easing the crisis in hospitals that had been caused by the linked strikes by health workers over low pay.


Ministers Mukasa Muruli on Friday 27th 2022 addressed press from Uganda  media  center where he called up on all medics, Nurses & Midwives  to return  back  to their respective places of work,Failure to do so,will be considered as having abandoned duty and resigned  Accordingly. 

Medics held a strike for 2 weeks in demand of salary enhancement and other necessities which was promised to them by president Yoweri kaguta Museveni in 2021. 

The President made the promise to medic's in June  2021 while meeting officials of Uganda Medical Association led by their vice president, Dr Stephen Ataro Ayella at State House Entebbe. 



Others on the team included the UMA secretary general, Dr Mukuzi Muhereza, the head of medical interns, Dr Irene Nabwire, the secretary general of the Federation of Medical Interns, Dr Faith Nabugasho and the former Director General of Medical Services, Prof Francis Omaswa.
 
The President said each doctor will earn Shs5m as starting salary. 


The President told the doctors that each of them will get Shs5 million as a starting salary starting July, reaffirming his earlier position. 
Currently, an intern gets Shs940,000 gross salary, a medical officer (Shs3m) and a senior consultant (Shs7.3m).
In an earlier agreement with the medical workers, President Museveni had agreed to pay professors Shs15m per month; senior medical consultants (Shs17m), university lecturers (Shs12.2m), doctors (Shs5m).
