Rev.Benard Amujuni from West Ankole who led the group of 103 from West Ankole Diocese told our reporter that they had walked for the last 10 days when everything was fine but unfortunately on arrival at the venue in Namugongo, one of their Members collapsed to death
Fellow Pilgrims attempted to attend to her, only to realize she had died.closely friends made speculation attaching her death to high blood pressure.
The body was taken by police to Mulago hospital for examinations.
She becomes a second pilgrim from Ankole Region to die during this year’s walk after another woman pilgrim who was from South Ankole Diocese was knocked dead by a speeding vehicle in Kiruhura District.
Annually, millions of people folk Namugongo shrines on both the Anglican and Catholic shrines to remember the life and boldness of 45 converted Christians who were killed on orders of Kabaka Mwanga.
The day is commemorated on June 3rd annually.
