11 Jerrycans of milk from Bududa was intercepted in bukiende sub county, Mbale District and destroyed in the presence of GISO Bunambutye,Subcounty chief Busoba and Police.
Police also confirmed the arrest of 4 famers who were moving this milk from Bududa to mbale City for sale.
Veterinary authorities in Elgon region on 23 may 2022, imposed a temporary quarantine following an outbreak of anthrax in Bududa &manafwa.
18 cows, one person died & 13 others were admitted in health facilities after eating the meat of animals suspected to have died of anthrax.
Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the ministry of Health Spokesperson,cautioned people against consuming of dairy products and other meat products from animals suspected to be infected with anthrax.
According to Bududa Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bududa, Mr Joshua Mabiya, confirmation of the infection was reached following blood tests done by the Uganda Virus Research Institute.
