Court of appeal in Kampala has upheld the election of NRM’s Seth Wambede Massa, as Member of Parliament for Mbale Northern city division and dismissed with costs, the appeal filed by NUP's Ivan Masaba.
According to the ruling, Ivan Masaba failed to provide enough evidence to support his case.
MP Wambede shortly after the ruling said, the court issues have been disturbing me alot and now it's time to work for the people in the constituency.
"We are going to sit with my lawyers and see how we determine the costs but now i thank God and the people of Northern city division for believing in me." He added
However, Ivan Masaba wrote on his Facebook account after the ruling that court of Appeal dismissed our Election Appeal with costs.
Masaba said, "I thank you all for the patience and confidence you’ve put in me. Deep down, we all know that I outrightly won the election, actually we took only one polling station (Makosi T/C polling station) to court which had more than 100% voter turnout and yet I personally buried 4 voters from the same. We adduced cogent evidence of people who never voted but it was ignored."
Masaba further noted, "I know you believe in me as your leader. Let us continue to push until 2026, I strongly believe we shall get fair representation in the near future. All in all, we’ve done our best."
