Former Forum for Democratic Change leader and Political activist Dr. Kizza Besigye has this afternoon resumed his wakeup call campaign on the streets of Kampala protesting against high commodity prices.
He is currently surrounded by Uganda Police Force in downtown. Next to wakiseka
The former four-time presidential candidate was seized on Tuesday, June 14, at around 1pm in downtown Kampala as he started mobilizing city traders to wake up and join him in what he described as “the struggle to liberate Uganda from President Museveni’s government that has been in power since 1986”
He was however intercepted by dozens of law enforcement officers on Namirembe road where he was addressing a crowd on top of his Toyota Land Cruiser.
The former opposition FDC President had also printed out thousands of “Red Card” fliers which he was throwing on the streets with messages on them calling for reduction of the cost of living by cutting the taxes on fuel and essential goods
His arrest comes just hours ahead of today’s National Budget reading at Kololo ceremonial grounds where President Museveni will preside over as the Chief Guest.
Overwhelming numbers of people surrounding him has prompted police to deploy heavily to arrested him.
