The Police in Mbale City are investigating circumstances under which an unidentified male adult was last Friday morning found dead in Oxygen hotel in Senior quarters in Mbale City.
The Elgon Region Police spokesperson Rogers Taitika says that on Friday morning at around 10am, Mbale City central police station landed on information that there was a dead body lying in one of the rooms in Oxygen hotel in Senior quarters.
"We got information about the dead body from the management of Oxygen hotel and we rushed at the scene. We found him dead in one of the room. We suspect the deceased could have taken poison. A team of homicide officers and the Scene of Crime officers (Soco) recovered a bottle of posion suggestive that he committed suicide,"Mr Taitika said.
Taitika told BIF Online news website that when a team from Mbale City Central Police station visited the scene, the body was half-naked making it difficult for them to identify the person.
Mr Taitika said that although the deceased is identified as Yusuf Magombe by the name of registration in the Visitor's book at Oxygen hotel but is not known by public.
According to police the decesead was putting on a black trouser, with a long sleeved white shirt.
The decesead believed to be in his 70s with long hair putting on dye (black). He's a brown guy putting on grey socks and has rings on both hands.
Taitika said, the deceased has a black small laptop bag.
He adds that the body was taken to Mbale City Mortuary for postmortem as investigations are ongoing to establish the truth of the matter.
The Manager Oxygen hotel only identified as Sandra, said the deceased booked a room at Shs50,000. "We were shocked to find Magombe dead in the morning and we called police,"she said.
Efforts to get a comment from the hotel Director, Mr Rogers Nashimolo were futile as he declined to comment on the matter.
