The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah has launched the first annual Sustainable Development Goal conference.
Speaking on behalf of President Museveni , Nabbanja reiterated that Uganda has attained the lower middle income status with a GDP Per Capita of USD $ 1046 slightly higher than the entrance points for the lower middle-income status of USD 1036.
The Premier however encouraged stakeholders to work harder and sustain the current level of GDP per capita and ensure that people's livelihoods across the country improve further.
She called upon everyone to support government's significant effort and investment in the Parish Development Model saying the Model is clearly aligned to the SDGs principle of ‘Leave No One Behind’.
Justine Kasule Lumumba General duties and SDG focal Minister while presenting the progress report on SDG reveals that Uganda has made progress on all 17 Goals that it set out to achieve as adapted in 2016 by 2030.
The report among others show reduced poverty to 20.3% in 2020 from 21.4% in 2016.
The ceremony held at Serena hotel in Kampala Thursday afternoon was among others attended by the Public service Minister Muruli Mukasa, State Minister for Luweero Rwenzori Alice Kaboyo, Head of public service Lucy Nakyoobe, Ambassadors, OPM PS Keith Muhakazi, and the UN resident coordinator in Uganda.
