The instructors, under their umbrella body, the Uganda National Teachers' Union (UNATU), yesterday met with President Yoweri Museveni at Kololo Independence grounds. It was organized to graph a way forward over calls to end their three-week-old strike.
After the gathering, UNATU canceled the instructors' strike and guaranteed that they would be getting back to class today.
"We chose to suspend the modern activity as we keep on drawing in the public authority to bring about some benefit for our students and the educators," said UNATU General Secretary, Filbert Baguma.
While showing up in a meeting earlier today, Baguma revealed additional subtleties from the gathering.
As per Baguma, they didn't lose the fight however decided to proceed with the conversation instead of close it.
"We have met the President two times in three weeks and the VP also. We had no place else to go other than to go on with the conversations," said Baguma.
He further guaranteed that they had acquired a ton from the modern activity.
"We got public and government consideration. The public authority said they understand our issues and they'll tended to go ahead. We can't say we emerged with nothing," he said.
