NEWS:Angry Mob Attacks Suspected Thief In Hoima

 



A suspected thief is battling for his life after an angry mob cut both his feet.


The incident happened Wednesday night in Busisi East cell in Hoima West division, Hoima city.


Community members allege that the man identified as Matayo Kyaligonza, a resident of the same village, was caught stealing.


The suspect was then dumped close to the mosque and was discovered Thursday morning by passersby.


Ashraf Comrade, a resident of Busiisi East cell says while sleeping he heard people chasing suspected thieves and when they arrested one of them, they chopped his feet.


He said during the interrogation, he admitted that they had stolen a subwoofer, a mattress, and a solar panel with its battery among others.

Godfrey Mbabazi the chairperson of Busiisi East says the suspected thief had kept some of the property at his rental room in Kiryatete West in Hoima city.


Police detectives found stolen property with material he has been using to break into people’s houses.


The property has been taken to Hoima central police station pending investigations.


The community is worried about increased theft in the area thus calling for more night patrols.
