In a campaign to reduce on road accidents caused by mostly boda boda riders, Makerere University’s College of Education and External Studies (CEES) has today unveiled its plan of establishing an online study course for all boda boda riders which will commence in June.

“It will be mainly an online course,” Paul Muyinda, the deputy principal College of Education said.

The college will partner with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) which will also borrow ideas from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the Ministry of Gender.

Muyinda went on to disclose the fact that the course will involve mobile learning and the use of applications to manage road safety and accidents. The riders will also be able to acquire safety tips on entrepreneurship of their business and how to improve their transportation skills.

This development is part of the 30 billion shillings that was added on the university’s budget by the government to improve research and come up with new innovations. With this in action, road accidents will be expected to reduce and boda boda riders will be able to save their money for the future development of their statuses.
