The vice president of Uganda,HE. Jesca Alupo has been accused by several top NRM leaders for betraying her party and supported the Fdc candidate,Hon Attan Moses,in the just concluded Soroti East by-Elections.
Sources informed us that HE.Jesca Alupo arrived in Soroti City on 24th July 2022 three days to the election day,which took place on 28th July,2022.On her arrival in the City,other top NRM leaders who had camped in Soroti for almost 3 weeks expected her to to join them for a meetings but unfortunately the Voce president resisted and installed her own camps.
Sorce"The vice President was openly supporting FDC candidate,Hon. Attan moses even in public,to an extent of funding him".
One of the top leaders in NRM also revealed to us that Alupo used to meet the camp of Attan Moses from Soroti university under tight security.It is said that the vice president caused too much friction in the party which resulted to internal party division.
Another NRM CEC member who never wanted us to reveal her Name,confirmed to us that the vice president decided to run her own campaign without involving or consulting on the NRM National Vice chairperson of Eastern Uganda,Captain Mike Mukula.
She further said that during Alupo's organized meeting and small rallies,Alupo used to call up on residents of Soroti East City to Vote a candidate they think is going to work for them.
Hon. David Kabanda,Mp kasambya county via his twit, also accused V.P Alupo. "On June 28th 2022 in a meeting at President Museveni's home in Ntungamo, HE Jesica Alupo advised that NRM shouldn't front a candidate in the Soroti Byelection in favour of FDC's Moses Attan. This was rejected by the President"Hon. Kabanda David.
While In kampuswahiri,Vice president told residents that both Attan Moses and Ariko Edmund are all eligible candidates who could represent them in parliament,so it was up to them to vote wisely,this caused too much friction between her and other members who had Accompanied her .
Whiles addressing the last rally on 24th July 2022,president yoweri Kaguta Museveni who seemed to have been tipped on the fights advised them to avoid involving themselves in international conflicts and wrangles which may lead to poor performance of the NRM candidate.
