The Ugandan Cabinet on Monday nodded to the implementation of the directive made during the 21st EAC extraordinary summit in Dar es Salaam , United Republic of Tanzania in February 2021.
During the summit, heads of states amended Article 137 of the bloc’s treaty to introduce the lingua franca as an alternative language for transacting EAC’s official business.

Kiswahili, the language of Swahili people, is spoken by more than 200 million people around the world.
In 2021, it received its biggest boost yet when the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) designated July 7 as World Kiswahili Language Day.
It’s already a national and official language in Kenya and Tanzania and one of four national languages in DRC, the latest EAC member state.

It must be noted that UGANDANS have been very Poor in Speaking and writing Kiswahili unlike their neighbors, Kenya, Tanzania and Congo. This had made it difficult for Ugandans, who speak the Best English in Africa, to communicate and trade with their neighbors meaningfully
The most commonly spoken local Language in Uganda had been Luganda which spreads so fast due to the power of central music industry and translated movies by VJ Jingo, a movie commentator. Luganda is spoken by an estimated 15 million Ugandans. The rampant and viral spread of Luganda which is now the most common language used by Traders in all Ugandan districts had caused a 'cancel culture" as all the other regions begun to speak and behave only as those that dwell in there center of the Nation.
The East African Community comprises of 7 of the most resource rich but impoversihed Nations on Earth. They have formulated a Common market Protocol that is still struggling and also hope to have a Single Currency by 2023.
