Reports from Kween district in Sebei sub region indicate that the downpour of 29th August 2022 led to River Atari bursting its banks and causing flash floods.

The floods are said to have led to the destruction of over 150 houses leaving over 500 people displaced. Images shared on social media show roads that are impassable paralyzing transport in the area.

This is not the first time River Atari bursts banks whenever there is a downpour. In Marchthis year, it burst its banks leaving over 800 people homeless.

That time persistent rains pounded the area from a Friday to Sunday, in the two sub-counties of Ngenge and Sundet. The floods also destroyed 1,000 acres of planted maize, sorghum, and beans and killed livestock.
