A one Derrick is currently being hunted by Mbale City Police for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, the Buwalasi Sub County Chief to death.
Derrick is reported to have picked a quarrel with Beth Neumbe at his residence in Wagagai cell, Nkoma Ward, Northern City Division in Mbale city last night, 8th August 2022.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that Derrick, and the deceased had had long disagreements which forced their clan members to advise for separation two months ago.
He adds that the two were not staying together for the last two months until last night when Lydia Negesa, Derrick’s neighbor called Neumbe to come and reconcile with Derick at his home.
Taitika also says that they are still hunting for Derrick who is on the run meanwhile Negesa who called the deceased is at Police custody to help police in the investigation. The body of the deceased is currently at Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
Police has cautioned couples against domestic violence saying that they should take their matters to police or nearby local leaders instead of taking the law into their own hands.
