Leaders of Namisindwa town council and those of Namisindwa district have got serious misunderstandings about the ownership of Namisindwa technical school land.
This came after MTN Telecom Company wanted to put its network mast at Namisindwa technical school land.
While speaking during a stakeholder meeting today at Namisindwa technical school, Martin Masusa, Councillor representing Kimondo ward in Namisindwa town council said that they were shocked by the manner under which the district agreed with MTN without their acknowledgement to put the mast in their land.
He adds that town council is the custodian of that land but they were not informed which neglect of highest order by the district
Esau Muyeti, speaker of Namisindwa town council says that as town council leaders they are not ready to allow projects in the area since the district didn’t inform them about the development yet they are the one who owns the land.
Godfrey Bwayo Naboli the LCIII chairperson of Namisindwa town council if the district must pay back 300 million shillings it got from MTN it has no land or MTN divert then money to the town council before allowing them to put their the mast.
However , James Bwayo Kitumbesi the vice LCV chairperson of Namisindwa district has urged the town council leaders to be calm since that mast will bring lots of development in the area.
He adds that if MTN puts a mast in the area both the district and town were going to benefit in terms of local revenue including locals by having good signals.
