Over 2,000 people who were hit by floods at Mutufu and Budadiri town council in Sironko district during recent heavy downpours in Bugisu want the government to support them with relief items like food, tapelines among others.

They revealed this today while receiving over 1,000 hand hoes worth 11 million shillings donated by their area Mp for Budadiri east constituency Isaiah Sasaga Wanzira.

Justin Nabukwasi and Florence Mutonyi both from Bunatanyo cell, Kalawa parish in Budadiri town council say that since they were affected by floods last month no single relief items they have ever got from the government.

They add that floods destroyed all their crops, houses among other items so currently they are lacking what to eat and sleep.

Sarah Nandudu also from Nandele ward Mutufu town council also says that the district leaders came and assessed the damages but when relief food came they were taken to Masaba Sub County where landslides took place leaving them.

However, Isaiah Sasaga Wanzira Member of Parliament representing Budadiri east constituency says that he presented the report to the ministry of disaster and preparedness calling them for calm any time the government will respond.

He urged them to use these hoses he donated so that they can grow more crops which they can eat.
