EALA elections-Desist From Bribery-Speaker Among Warns EALA Aspirants

Speaker Anita Among has warned candidates aspiring for the East African Legislative Assembly to refrain from bribery

She said this while speaking to journalists in her office this afternoon.

“We are going to have campaigns on Thursday starting at 9:00AM and each candidate will be given atleast 7 minutes to campaign.

I want to call upon candidates to refrain from bribery, or any form of election malpractice. Let your manifesto speak for itself”, she said

She encouraged the political parties who had nominated their candidates to participate actively in the elections, saying that it’s the only way they can have proper representation.

“As a House, we allow every party to participate. Although it’s not a guarantee that all parties might make it, you are lawfully allowed to participate” she added.

9 members of Parliament from Uganda will be elected to the East African Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

NRM gazetted six positions for its incumbents,  leaving three slots; one independent and two for opposition.
