Following the recent floods which hit Mbale city and claimed lives of about 20 people leaving hundreds displaced from their home, Mbale business community have embarked on massive fundraising campaigns to raise funds and food items to the affected families.
Martin Jiko working with Punta cana one of the business companies while speaking to our reporter over the weekend , they are going to organize actives in this week like football matches between Mbale garage KCCA at Mbale city studio, car washing and asking donations from communities such that they collect that money and support victims.
He adds that they are aiming to collect at least one million shillings which they hope to use in supporting 1500 families which were affected by floods.
James Tamulila manager Stanbic Bank Mbale branch says that they have also supported the campaign with 100 million shillings.
He adds that they are going to use LCI chairpersons in distributing these items such that they don’t do eras.
Bruno Sajabi, director of studies at Makerere University Business School Mbale branch urged other business communities in Mbale to embrace these exercises such that they can give back to their people during this difficult time.
