Spotlight on Africa a UK based organization has completed the construction of the Maternity complex at Bukasatya health center III in Mbale Industrial city division to serve the increasing vulnerable people in the area.
The director Spotlight on Africa Mr Okotel Richard said, the facility will serve the community and also help to decongest Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
"We are doing this to provide a much-needed health services to a community where home births are common and maternal and Neo-natal death rates are higher." Okotel said.
Dr. Okwalinga David the health inspector at Bukasatya health center III informed Bugisu Intellectual that, the Health Centre provides a comprehensive 24/7 service to include general outpatients, maternity care and childbirth facilities.
Mukamba Robert former LCIII chairperson Bukasakya subcounty told Bugisu Intellectual that the area is densely populated with a population of approximately 35,000.
Spotlight On Africa has built a fully fledged primary school with staff quarters Musoto christian school, sunk 35 Boreholes in the community, train youths in Tailoring and Carpentry to have skills and now a health facility.
Dr Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, accompanied by former chief Justice Bart Katureebe, commissioned the 660 million shillings facility.
She asked local leaders to sensitize parents on how to use family plan to control birthrates.
Atwine cautioned health workers to be careful with patients due to Ebola outbreak in the country.
