MBALE: Spotlight on Africa donates relief items worth UGX 20M to Mbale floods Victims.

 


The Spotlight on Africa Uganda foundation has delivered relief items worth 20 million shillings to people affected by floods in six villages of Nabitili ward, Bukasakya Mbale Industrial City division.


The floods, which occurred last month in August, in Mbale City left many families homeless and several acres of crops ravaged. 



Ms. Alum Christine the health coordinator Spotlight on Africa, told our reporters  that they decided to procure relief items to affected families.


"The Items delivered to the victims on Friday, included 1000 Jerrycans, 2500kgs of beans, 1000 pieces of blankets and 1000 pieces of Basins." Christine said.

"We believe these items will help them, our communities are poor because recently they lost everything from crops to households." She added.

Ms. Namalwa Emily Fatuma deputy mayor, Mbale Industrial city division and the area female councilor applauded Spotlight on Africa Uganda for the support given to her people.


"Spot on Africa has been standing with the community, they are supporting Bukasakya health center III, they are building a secondary school in Namatala. So we are happy for them." She noted.

"Our people have been living a miserable life without any relief support since the incident occurred but we're talking to government and other NGOs to see that more items reach to them,” Namalwa said. 



Ms Fatuma Juma , one of the victims, said she lost her house and properties.

“I didn't have even a blanket to cover myself but thank God,   I have now received one today and I am happy,” she said. 


Mr. Wetaka Deo a resident of Musoto Nabitili village applauded spotlight on Africa foundation for the support.

He said, he lost all  his properties but thanked  God who  got some items from this organization.
