Top Uganda Airline Bosses ‘Fired’ After Being Exposed By COSASE’s Joel Ssenyonyi, New Jobs Advertised

 


Uganda Airlines has advertised 16 jobs for senior officials at the national carrier as it moves to enhance its operational capabilities and performance in line with its agenda and objectives.


The development comes barely a month after the agency was ‘bitterly exposed’ by the Public Accounts Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) over mismanagement and misallocation of government funds.


The job advert which appeared in the New Vision on Monday appeared in is an indication that those who were holding these positions could have been fired or those who have been holding the positions in an acting capacity will have to undergo a competitive process in order to be confirmed in a substantive capacity.


Surprisingly, the Airline’s CEO Ms Jennifer Bamuturaki is secure as her position is not among the listed vacancies yet she has been at the heart of the investigation by the committee.


Among the jobs listed include; the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Company Secretary, Head of Maintenance and Engineering, Head of Flight Operations, and Head of Ground Operations.


Four safety officers who will report directly to the safety manager,

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will report directly to the Chief Executive Office and will among other duties be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations,

Senior Manager Information, Technology and Data Management who will among other duties devise digital IT strategies to achieve business goals, especially in the areas of Smart Travel using Smart Technologies,

Head of Maintenance and Engineering who will among other duties be providing leadership, overall administration, and general direction to the engineering programs department,

Chief pilot who will be responsible for designing and maintaining systems that support the safe execution of flight operation procedures and Airlines’ flights and will be reporting directly to the head of flight operations,

Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) whose key role will be to develop and build the airline’s business across Africa, Asia, Middle East and eventually European bases with the aim of stimulating  passenger growth and business development,

Human Resources Manager who will among other responsibilities Implement employment activities across the airline, ensuring properly qualified applicants are recruited,

Manager Cabin Services who will be reporting to the head of flight operations and will be responsible for cabin crew,

Manager quality and monitoring who will be the overall authority of the company’s internal and external audit programs,

Company secretary who will be responsible for legal officers of the airline,

Others are; Head of Ground Operations, Head of Flight Operations and Manager Internal Audit.

Potential candidates have been advised to find the full descriptions of their respective jobs on the careers section of the Uganda Airlines website and are henceforth advised to submit their cover letters, curriculum vitae, and copies of academic and professional certificates through the online portal before the deadline of 5 pm, October 07, 2022.
