President yoweri Kaguta Museveni has dismissed claims by Hon. Nobert Mao, the opposition Democratic Party (DP) president general that their cooperation agreement between the two parties and principals includes working out Uganda’s first peaceful transition since independence.
Mao who was recently appointed as minister of Justice and constitution affairs by president yoweri kaguta Museveni has been always proclaiming that according to the agreement signed between the two parties, National resistance movement (NRM) and Democratic party (DP), there will be a peaceful transition of presidency in Uganda by the current President, Yoweri kaguta Museven, who has been in power for 34 years Now.
Mao has always been saying that he signed a cooperation agreement with Museveni a few months ago. "one of the issues was to clear the ground for the peaceful transfer of power from Gen Museveni to a new leader": Said Mao.
Mao and DP have continued to reap the benefits of their cooperation agreement with president Museveni and the National resistance Movement, recently the Democratic party’s secretary general, Gerald Siranda was overwhelmingly voted by NRM MPs to become a member of the regional EALA Parliament.
In an interview with a local television station on 17the October 2022, president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, explained that Mao’s appointment and the deal he signed with him and the NRM was one way of getting members of the political opposition into the government so that both sides can work together for the good of their country.
President Museveni told NBS that his NRM seeks to bring on board members of the opposition to work with government to reduce the number of people opposing the NRM. "I want to make this clear, that political transition was not part of the cooperation agreement so whatever Mao says says it for his political interests" :Museveni
He further said that Mao’s political transition talk could be a way of expressing his opinion and his approach to the succession question.
The NRM boss also revealed that him and Mao have ‘broadly discussed’ the issue of unity, and not political transition.
In Conclusion president yoweri Kaguta also hint on his son radical twits and interest of leasing this country. "My son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is a good soldier, he is disciplined and has served the army well, he has no bad record in the army apart from these social media things" said Museven.
President Museveni noted that him and his son have had a talk and he has instructed his son not to write anything on social media that can put the country in a mess.
"Twitter doesn't Vote for presidents, it is the Citizens of Uganda to make a decision on Muhoozi in case he contests, if Ugandans love him, they will vote for him and he will be the president of this country" Museveni concluded.
