The embattled CEO of Uganda Airlines was irregularly appointed by Museveni to that position. Some sections of Ugandans have argued that she got the position as a reward for her late father, Hon. Bamururaki who was allegedly killed by the UPC government in 1982.
The truth of the matter is that in the 1980 general elections, Hon. Bamururaki had been elected M.P for Menge Country on the DP ticket. In 1981, Museveni took to the bush of his NRA guerilla war against the UPC government.
Among the tactics that he adopted was the indiscriminate killings in order to discredit the government. In that regard, an urban hit squad dubbed Black Bomba was created and it caused mayhem in the capital city, Kampala.
Maj. General. Matayo Kyaligonza who was the commander of Black Bomba has repeatedly confirmed the ugly role of his squad. So what merit do they use to make others climb ladders while some of us, who did the dirty job in the bush, are left down here for all that long? If you know what I put in the war, I have scars of bullets on my body and I did the unthinkable.
There is nothing that I did not do in the war. Some of them were in the back; I was in Kampala, in the middle of terror.”
The development was recently confirmed by Museveni during a prayer Breakfast at State House.
“In the NRA we had a lot of power to do evil, we had a big capacity to kill people. At some stage I will write about the details, maybe confidentially and when I have safely gone to heaven, somebody can publish. But that information should not be lost. You had some of our people who would say “let us kill so and so”. Of course, we could do it, but sometimes, I always never liked the idea of killing to get quick results. That was always the temptation.”
Museveni – during Prayer Breakfast, 8th Oct
In one of its operations, a senior government army officer was targeted at a popular drinking joint called Kisement in Kololo. By bad luck, Hon. Bamururaki who was at the same joint went to the lavatory to ease himself where he was mistaken for the said target senior army officer and was shot dead. The UPC government was blamed for the killing and the rest is history. The truth is that Hon. Bamururaki was never a target of the UPC regime. He may not have even had any known links with the then rebel, NRA. However, a number of prominent people from his constituency like Tom Butime, Dr. Kamanyire, Katenta Apuli, Aston Kajara, Italikire Kiiza and others were very active in the NRA rebellion. Therefore, the so-called reward to the late Bamururaki’s daughter by Museveni could be compensation for the killing of her father by the NRA.
It is also most likely that Jenifer Bamururaki is a security operative because the Uganda Airlines is a component of the elite SFC. You will remember, Museveni had earlier on appointed her as an aide to the then CEO and it was not gt long before the latter lost the position. As to whether Jenifer had been spying on the then CEO, your guess is as good as mine.
