Hospital Harvests kidney from Muhammad,a Market Vendor in Owino without his Consent.

The Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago while addressing  a presser on 11th october 2022, condemned the increasing cases of human organ harvesting. 

This follows an appeal to him by his constituent, Muhammad Kabanda, a vendor in Owino market who was involved in motorcycle accident along Lukuli in may 2022.

After getting involved in a motorcycle accident, Muhammad sustained head injuries and was admitted at Old Kampala Hospital.

According to Muhammad, there was a bill Ugx 3,600,000/-After the hospital conducting a  surgery  for the head injuries sustained, He says that after the surgery, he observed that he had fresh incisions around his lower left abdomen area. 

Muhammad visited a different hospital  With the expertise of radiologists and  the CT scan revealed that his Kidney had been harvested without his consent and will.

The Lord Mayor vowed to follow up the matter and expressed his misgivings on the newly passed law, stating that it should have stopped all forms of commercializing organs. He encouraged donation of organs by relatives and charitable endeavors.

He made a clarion call to all Ugandans to be on the look out to stop such heinous and barbaric crimes of harvesting kidneys in the country.
