The former Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) commander of Land Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, will today, Monday, October 10, 2022, hand over office to the new commander Lt Gen. Muhanga Kayanja.
According to the army, the pipping ceremony for Muhoozi and Muhanga will also be held today at the headquarters of the Land Forces at Bombo Military Barracks in Luweero district.
Last week, President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the army, promoted Muhoozi from the rank of Lieutenant General to full General.
The President also appointed Muhanga as the11 UPDF commander of Land Forces and promoted him from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General.
Prior to his appointment as commander of Land Forces, Muhanga was the commander of Operation Shujaa in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels
