The phrase “good old days” was relived on Saturday 1st October 2022, as the country congregated at Nebbi Town Secondary School in Nebbi Municipality for the national celebrations of this year’s International Day of Older Persons.
The host grounds were animated as the golden tunes including ‘Sina Makosa by Les Wanyika’ blared from the public address system. The nostalgic feel was evident as even those that hold support in their walking sticks spared no energy to dance away to the memorable songs.
During the event presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni represented by the Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development in charge Elderly Affairs, Hon. Gidudu Dominic Mafwabi two key documents were launched. These included the National Guidelines on Healthy Ageing and Guidelines for the Special Enterprise Grant for Older Persons.
Up to 30 older persons identified within Nebbi district, the oldest being a 102 year-old, were rewarded with beddings (blankets and mattresses).
