“Uganda is a food basket of East Africa and Africa at large” Wanyoto submits as Uganda celebrates 60th Independence.

 



During the 60th Uganda   independence Celebrations on the 9th of October 2022 at Kololo ceremonial ground, the NRM National women’s, Hon Lydia Wanyoto elaborated on the Key points Leaders should focus on for Uganda to keep developing.

 

Wanyoto said that Not only the potential of Agriculture in our country but the reality of being the food basket of not only the east African community the whole of Africa because we have no reason why we can not produce enough food. Wanyoto called on the Agriculture ministry and other leaders to encourage the communities to venture in Agriculture.

She further called upon political players to utilize the 5 years to account for every minute.

“Every five years we go for elections, so use every one hour every day in the next five hours to make a contribution because you will have to be accountable. When you are Elected or appointed, every day you must wake up and do something to account to the people, whether it is resources, Monitoring or oversite because our country is in the hands of politicians and therefore I call upon them to face the front room and challenges of our country” Said Wanyoto.

Being the NRM National women’s League, Wanyoto wished the women a very happy independence and said that this time round women have been given good positions and they are performing well according to statistics and reports. She reminded the women to remain vigilant, take up their positions work harder knowing that  every contribution leads to stability and development to our country Uganda.
