Former presidential candidate and President of National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED), Joseph Kabuleeta has this afternoon been sent to Kitalya over alleged sectarian remarks.
Kabuleta Appeared before the Chief Magistrates Court in Nakawa on charges of promoting sectarianism following his arrest on Monday 28th 2022 from the party offices in bugolobi.
Kabuleta was arraigned this afternoon at the Chief Magistrates Court in Nakawa and charged with promoting sectarianism. He was sent on remand until 14th of December 2022
The magistrate informed Kabuleeta that she was constrained with time as she had other court matters to attend and hence she could not hear to his bail application.
Kabuleeta and his Lawyer, Remmy Bagenda were then advised to apply for bail on December 14th, 2022 despite repeated pleas to reconsider her decision.
His lawyer wanted him released on bail explaining that he had to take his daily medication and in her response, the magistrate advised Kabuleta to access his doctor while in prison.
It is alleged that on 30th May 2022 in Kampala District, Joseph Kabuleta and others held a press conference under their Political Party, National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED), where they alleged that social service delivery in Mbarara is based on ethnic lines of the Tutsi, Bahima, Bakiga and Banyakore. Kabuleta and others shall be charged with Promoting Sectarianism.
