Leakage Of Parliament Report On Uganda Airlines Angers Speaker Among

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has called for investigations into the circumstances under which a report on Uganda Airlines leaked to the public before consideration by the House.

In her communication to Parliament on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Among said some MPs have made it a habit to leak committee reports before they are presented to the House for debate and adoption.

“We want to know who leaked the report and we want a report from the Leader of Opposition. We are not going to encourage that. How do you leak a report before it is discussed, why do we discuss what has gone out?” Among said.

The Speaker pointed out the report on Uganda airlines, by the House’s committee on commissions statutory authorities and state enterprises (COSASE), which was leaked to the public recently.

Chaired by Opposition MP Joel Ssenyonyi, COSASE investigated the operations of Uganda Airlines, which brought to light irregularities in recruitment processes, salary disparities at the airlines, and cases of corruption for over two months.

The report, which has been under lock and key, was yet to be tabled before Parliament for debate.
