Mission Aborted: launch of Uganda's first satellite,PearlAfricaSat-1,aboard



NorthropGrumman CRS18 resupply mission to Space Station was scrapped today by NASA after a fire alarm in the control room. 


The launch was to take place  today 6th November 2022 at 1:50pm EAT, this has been rescheduled to  tomorrow 7th October 2022  at 5.27 EAT.


Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation, Dr Monica Musenero told journalists that On Sunday, November 6th, 2022, 1.50 pm EAT, the process of launching Uganda's first satellite, pearlAfricaSat-1, was initiated by the National Aeronautics and space Administration (NASA), in Virginia, USA. 

According to Minister Musenero, the satellite was supposed to be transported aboard the 18th Northrop Grummen commercial resupply service mission to the international space station.

Whoever Minister Musenero said that  Before the launch a fire alarm was reported in Northrop Grumman mission control building amd therefore, the launch was crubbed and rescheduled for Monday, 1.27pm EAT in virginia.

The minister also called up on schools, institutions and the General public to be part of the science week exhibition taking place at Kololo ceremonial ground.

The event is expected to kick off tomorrow 7th Monday  November 2022 and will be official opened by the prime minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.
