Today 21st Nov. 2022, the Late Rt. Hon. Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere will be laid to rest at Nkumba-Busiro. While eulogizing him at Lubaga Cathedral where he was a senior Parishioner, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, a proud student of Dr.
Ssemogerere said the late registered success in the landmark Court cases that outlawed the movement system and set stage for the return of political parties. Unfortunately, at the time of his demise, political parties are curtailed by Government.
He talked about the regime’s mortification of according Dr. Ssemo an official burial yet he can not be celebrated as a hero because their philosophy recognizes only those who have held the barrel of the gun as heroes.
The Lord Mayor said that the befitting send off the current Government can accord Dr. Ssemogerere is by addressing the heinous crimes they commit against humanity. He underscored that Dr. Ssemo was an icon of civil liberties and human rights but Ugandans are still abducted using “drones”, they are denailed and several other utterly odious actions are committed against including killing them.
He invited all forces of change to turn up for the Unity Conference on the Martin Luther along Jr Day (January 16, 2023) because this was Dr. Ssemogerere’s last effort under the Unity in Diversity agenda. This is intended to address the National crisis by rescuing, safeguarding and strengthening democracy and constitutionalism in Uganda.
