Two guns and a radio call were reported missing at Bungokho Police Station in Mbale district.
Police has arrested three of their own officers following the theft of two guns and a radio call last evening, 23rd November, 2022.
It’s alleged that unknown people broke into the station and made away with the guns last evening.
Speaking to this reporter this morning, Asumini Nasige, the Mbale Resident District Commissioners said the arrested officers are Celestine Ematu, the Officer In Charge and other two juniors whose names she did not reveal.
The trio was arrested this morning to help in the investigations.
She urged the public to give them any related information about the missing guns and a radio call such that those items can be removed from the wrong hands.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson said the theft of the two AK47 guns and a radio call has left many unanswered questions at the security department in Mbale.

Police in Mbale district has arrested the OC station and other two police officers after it was reported that two guns and a radio call attached to Uganda police force were stolen from Bungokho police station.
The Elgon region police spokesperson Rogers Taitika confirmed to Bugisu intellectual that two guns and a radio call were stolen from Bungokho police station.
Taitika said, they have arrested three of their own officers to help in the investigations.
"Its alleged that the guns were with these officers but by the time they got lost we cant tell, so we have taken them to Mbale CPS for more investigations." He said.
He appealed to the community members to provide police with the information available to help them in their investigations.
Wanda Simon Peter the LC1 chairman of Nashikaso village in Bungokho sub county told Bugisu intellectual that indeed the area is lacking enough security.
"As leaders we are very worried because we have been hearing about these things from far but now they have come here." Wanda said.

On 31st October, 2022, there was a violent attack on Busiika Police Station at around 7.30pm, by a group of armed assailants, who shot and killed two police officers on duty, injured two others. One officer was critically injured and two police guns were robbed.
The facts gathered indicate, that the assailants who were about 7, emerged from 3 different sides, two in front and one from behind, were armed with a pistol and guns.
They shot and killed, D/IP Wagaluka Alex, the in-charge CID and PC Ongol Moses, both attached to Busiika Police station. During the attack, the assailants injured two other police officers, who included; PC Ochom Adrian and PC Odama Stephen.
They also burnt several casefiles and attempted to burn the station. The fire was however, successfully put off by the community at Busiika Town Council.
