Uganda is dominating and poised to reclaim all titles in the ongoing 12th East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games taking place in the South Sudan Capital of Juba.

In the athletics competition that took place yesterday, Uganda scooped 14 Gold medals, 4 silver and 2 bronze.


Parliament of Uganda Basketball team also managed to win in Basketball (men) to a tune of 55-19 against Kenya.


The Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among on Thursday last week led a delegation of Members of Parliament and staff to compete in the games that bring together Regional Assemblies and National Parliaments from across the East African Community.


In her remarks delivered at the opening ceremony, Among stressed the need to widen, deepen and tighten the integration process that will strengthen the relationship among EAC member States and rekindle the integration aims.


‘’The games play a fundamental role in enhancing interaction with members of the National Parliaments in the partner states as envisaged in article 49(2a) of the Treaty for the Establishment of East African Community,’’ she said.
