"If we can't talk about Among's Fraudulent marriage then no mediation" Namuganza spits venom.

As the bid to censure the State Minister for Housing, Ms Persis Namuganza, gains momentum in Parliament,  the ruling NRM party has promised to reconcile her and Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.

The ICT and National Guidance Minister, Dr Chris Baryomunsi, while addressing journalists at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala yesterday 16th December 2022, said the NRM thought it is wise to reconcile the two leaders since they are party members.

“As NRM, we undertake to meet the two leaders, if there is a conflict, we will harmonise and reconcile them so that we can put more concentration on issues that benefit Ugandans but not quarrels between leaders,” Dr Baryomunsi said.

Though minister Namuganza has set strong conditions towards the mediation if at all It is to happen.

Namuganza who sounded radical while in an exclusive interview with NBS television says that if the mediators are not ready to speak about the speakers marriage, then there will be no business done.

"I am not scared of being censured by members of parliament, they can collect many more signatures as they can. My issue is that we should put the house in the right position. I think they wanted Me to accept all the accusations on me concerning the naguru land grabbing" - Namuganza.

According to Namuganza, the "unnecessary" powers being exhibited by the parliament leadership (speaker) should be tamed down and stop using the house to fight own wars

Namuganza’s remark comes at a time when the censure movers are struggling to raise the required signatures. Critics, however, say the censure move died from the onset, pouring scorn on the processes and procedures so far.

Legislators accuse Ms Namuganza of misconduct and abuse of office in allocating the Naguru-Nakawa land to investors.

Dr Baryomunsi said Parliament has more useful work to do instead of being sucked into such wars.

“We don’t want to see a situation where we are spending a lot of time and energy on such issues.

When it comes to censuring a minister, there are more convincing and strong grounds, including convincing Ugandans on whether the minister should be censured or not but not the quarrels between leaders,” Dr Baryomunsi said.
