Namuganza Censure hangs in balance as Deputy speaker writes to M7 to Notify him.

 


Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa has this afternoon summarized  the process of censuring Minister Persis Namuganza.


"The motion of censure shall not be debated until the expiry of 30 days after the petition has been sent to the President" -  saysTayebwa


Agago North County Mp Hon Okot Amos tabled a censure motion before parliament today 23rd December 2022.


This was a Motion for a Resolution of parliament to pass a vote of censure against Hon Persis Namuganza princess ,state Minister for lands Housing and Urban Development pursuant to Rule 109( 7) of the Rules of Procedure.


The motion is not subject to debate. After tabling the motion, within 72 hours, the Speaker will write to president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  to inform his Minister that Parliament intends to censure her, Clearly showing the grounds, the signatures and supporting documents and then thereafter , within 14 days after informing the President the speaker will have to appoint a select committee which will investigate and give Hon. Namuganza a chance to defend herself.


Legislators accuse Ms Namuganza of misconduct, insulting speaker Among and abuse of office in allocating the Naguru-Nakawa land to investors.
