The body of Prof. Patrick Masette Kuuya, a former minister in the Obote government arrived at Entebbe aboard Kenya airlines on 7th December 2022 at 3pm.
Kuuya died from Nairobi where he has been living ever since the Obote govt was overthrown.
Hon. Peter Welikhe mp bubulo West constituency where Kuuya hails from, Richard Wanda the mp for Bungokho Central Constituency, and also chairperson Bugisu parliamentary Caucus, led a team to receive the body at Entebbe international Airport.
The legislators were also accompanied by family members of the late and Hon. Lydia Nabwire, former parliamentary aspirant Namisindwa district.
Speaking to the press, Hon. Wanda thanked president yoweri Kaguta Museveni for enabling them bring back the body of the late, he also said that the president made a contribution of Tweety (20) Million Shillings towards the burial arrangements.
Hon. Peter Welikhe told the press that In Obote administration, several development were done during the late's tenure.
"Masette Kuuya wanted the whole Mandela National Stadium also built at Nabumali in Mbale ahead of a Confederation of East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA) Championships, but he met resistance" Said Hon. Peter Welikhe.
He further said that they had received ten (10) million shillings from Rt. Hon. Anita Among, the speaker of parliament of Uganda, to help in burial arrangements.

Late Masette Kuuya is remembered for upgrading the Municipal (now City) Stadium in Mbale but instability also disrupted his progress. Meanwhile, stories loomed large about the struggle between Masette Kuuya and then party secretary general Dr Luwuliza Kirunda over whether to stage the games in Jinja’s Bugembe Stadium within Luwuliza Kirunda’s Busoga sub-region or in Mbale.
According to the programme, there was a funeral mass at Kenyatta University where he has been teaching which took place on Saturday, 3rd December at 2pm.
Then the remains were flown from Nirobi to Uganda via Entebbe Airport on the 7th December, there will be funeral service at St Andrew church of Uganda Bukoto on Thursday, 8th December before leaving to Bugisu Sub-region.
The late will then be taken to mbale City after the prayers at Bukoto, thereafter they will hold another mass on the 9th December 2022 from Mbale Municipal Stadium and the late will be buried the next day on Saturday 10th in Manafwa.
