"Drop a Gun and pick a Hoe" -Minister Nandutu launches a Campaign in karamoja.

 

The state minister for karamoja, also woman member of parliament, Hon. Agnes Nandutu has kick started a campaign in karamoja region, code named "Drop a gun and pick a hoe. 

Minister Nandutu  launched a campaign from Amudat District.

According to Minister Nandutu, mobilising the people of Karamoja for peace and food production is the only way to develop karamoja region. 

"I am encouraging the community in karamoja to open land in preparation for the next planting season in March, we need to creat a mindset in our people of karamoja as the president said" -Minister Nandutu.

She further says that this launched campaign is to spread to all the nine Districts that make up Karamoja region. 

In less than one years as a state minister for  Karamoja, Agnes Nandutu together with all Government Agencies have been able to collect over 513 guns from karamajong warriors.

Last year  Minister  Nandutu warned Karimojong warriors against illegal guns, saying that if they don’t hand over the guns government would  by force grab them.

“Hand over the guns to us or else we shall grab them from you by for force,” Minister Agnes Nandutu told Karamajongs.
