Grief as Dr. Mugamba's Family Prepares to Bury his 3 Children who perished in Buloba Accident.

The burial ceremony of three family members who died last Friday in a road accident in Buloba will be held this Monday in Bwigamiro, Fort Portal, Kabarole District, Western Uganda.

Elli Mugamba, Tara Mugamba, and Ulrich Mugamba were traveling from Fort Portal to Kampala after the Christmas holiday when a trailer rammed into their vehicle, a Toyota Harrier registration number UBH 008G at the Forest Park in Buloba, along Kampala-Mityana Road.

A church service was held at All Saints Church in Kampala this past Saturday to pay tribute to the deceased.

Judith Mugamba, the mother of Elli and Tara, told mourners that “this is the most difficult time for me.”

She added: “I spent Christmas with them. It was an amazing time. We had drinks. It was like we were saying goodbye.”

Judith further said, “Elli came home on Dec. 23, 2022, and showed me the tattoo he had put on his wrist, and wanted us all to put the same tattoo on our wrists.”

David Mugamba, the father of Elli and Tara, said he had “enjoyed the love of these children.”

He added: “The bodies have departed, but the spirits will stay. Emotionally, we will fight.”

Rev. Can Geoffrey Byarugaba, the preacher at the church service, said this kind of death is not normal.

In a normal death, parents bury their children, not the reverse, he said as mourners shed tears.

“We have been observing reckless driving, especially among drivers driving heavy vehicles. Young-looking faces are driving these heavy vehicles. Do they qualify?” he wondered.

The government should take time and look at the age of drivers taking on heavy vehicles. The government should look at the driving and certification of heavy trucks. Such incidents could be avoided,” said Byarugaba.

He said life on earth is preparatory for life after. “We are here, but on temporary terms.”

“Accidents are accidents. You can fall in the bathroom and die. There was a man who was killed by his cow. That was an accident. You cannot explain it, but one thing we must not forget is that God is still in charge.”

Victoria Mugamba, the sister of Ulrich, who was also involved in the Buloba accident, is fighting for her life in the hospital.
