Irony as Uganda government celebrates 50,000 followers Facebook, which was closed by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Government of Uganda blocked Facebook in Uganda in January 2021 during the general Elections.

According to president Yoweri Kaguta museveni, Face book was closed because they were being used by Opposition  to attack the ruling Government NRM

"Facebook are arrogant.They were being used to attack us. When our own people tried to answer back they shut us. It has been 2yrs since Facebook was chased out l hope Facebook now knows who is in charge of Uganda.When they stop playing games we shall open them"- KagutaMuseveni

Facebook remains blocked in Uganda but most users including Government organisations like the uganda police, Parliament of uganda etc  have resorted to using VPN apps to bypass the government blockade.
