While releasing results on Friday morning, the Minister of Education and First Lady, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni raised concerns about the increased rate of absenteeism amongst candidates who registering for PLE exams, which is a loss to the country.
The UNEB Executive Director Dan Odong said more candidates obtained Division 1 and Division 2 than in 2020. The overall pass levels are comparable between the two years. In terms of numbers, 714,702 candidates passed the PLE compared to 659,910 the previous year. Therefore, more pupils qualified to join the post-primary institutions than the previous year.
According to UNEB, 114,617 students passed in Division One, 357,799 passed in Division two, 146,583 passed in Division three, 95,702 passed in Division Four and 97,109 students were un graded.

“Although the COVID-19 pandemic situation appeared to have eased
compared to what obtained in 2021, the Board faced another challenge
occasioned by the outbreak of Ebola in some parts of the country during 2022 most prominently in Kasanda and Mubende districts, and Kampala City.” she said.
She said, the number of candidates in the year 2022 increased significantly by 13.8% and better quality performance in terms of grades.
A total of 832,654 candidates from 14,691 centres (schools) registered for PLE in 2022 compared to 749,761 in 2020. Of this number, 583,768 (70.1%) from 11,306 centres were Universal Primary Education (UPE) beneficiaries, and 248,982 (29.9%) were Non UPE. The proportion of candidates
benefitting from the Universal Education program has increased by 1.7 percent.
In 2022, analysis by gender shows that 400,100 (48.1%) boys were registered compared to 432,554 (51.9%) girls, indicating that more girls than boys completed the Primary Education cycle. This has been the trend in the last
six years.
The Board registered 2,436 learners with Special Needs of various categories, including the blind, the deaf, the physically handicapped and the dyslexics, compared to 1,599 in 2020. This is an increase of 52.3%, the largest rate of increase ever.
PLE was conducted on November 8th and 9th, 2022, with a total of 832,810 candidates registered from 14,153 examination centers.
51.9 percent of the total registered candidates were females and 48.1 percent were males.
583,769 were funded under the Universal Primary Education-UPE program, and 249,041 were non-UPE candidates.
Parents, candidates and other interested parties can now use the Short Message Services (SMS) on mobile networks which will post results of candidates on their mobile sets instantly.
However, the District, Municipal and City Inspectors of Schools may collect hard copies of the results from UNEB offices at Ntinda from Monday, 30th January, 2023. No copies of results are available as of now.

You can get the 2022 PLE Results for any candidate in a few simple steps.
In your message box, type PLE <space> INDEX NUMBER and send it to 6600.
For example, to check the results of the candidate with index number 654321/001, in your message box, type PLE 003400/001 AND SEND TO 6600.
You will receive an SMS at a cost of UGX 500 per candidate.
or School administrations, UNEB officials said that results are now uploaded on the examination center portals to enable schools to download the results as they are officially released today.
