Kampala-Gulu Highway: police clarifies - 'Another Bus Crash Injures 16, No death recorded''.


Police have revealed that 16 passengers injured on the Monday night bus crash on the Kampala- Gulu highway, are admitted at Nakasongola Health Centre IV, St Franciscan Health Centre IV and Kasana Hospital Luwero for treatment.


Police are yet to release the identities of the victims.

A police statement issued on the bus accident this morning says the territorial Police in Nakasongola, Bamusuta Cell Katugo Town Council on January 9, at 10:00pm registered a serious road crash involving an Isuzu Bus registration number UAR 655M belonging to Valley Bus Company Ltd.


According to the statement, the bus was coming from the Gulu side heading to Kampala.

“It’s alleged that the driver lost control and overturned, causing serious injuries to 16 passengers who were on board. The cause of the accident has been attributed to reckless driving,” the statement read in part.

Recently, over 18 people died in a midnight bus accident at Kamdini on the Kampala-Gulu highway.

In a statement issued on Friday morning, June 06, 2023, by Patrick Jimmy Okema, the public relations officer in North Kyoga, the accident involved a bus registration number UAT 259P belonging to Roblyn Bus company, which rammed into a stationary truck at about midnight.

It is alleged the trailer was loading some items at Adebe Trading Centre just 1km from Corner Kamdini checkpoint in Oyam district.

It was established that the bus was heading to Kitgum. Eyewitnesses said there were no rescue means, with no ambulances and nearest health facility.
