Owino market venders demand Kushaba's reinstatement, as ED kisaka inspects the Market.

Market venders in St. Balikuddembe (Owino) Market have requested the Kampala City council Executive director, Dorothy Kisaka to bring back the former interim chairperson, Susan Kushaba to assume office as the chairperson.

Venders made the remarks on 11th January 2023 when the ED had paid visit to Owino to inspect the construction site, which will accommodate street venders.

The open space being worked on by Kcca is located near venders who deal in produce.

Why speaking to Venders, ED Kisaka told venders that KCCA had embarked on paving the open space to improve on the drainage, she also assured Venders that KCCA is planning for the installation of solar lighting infrastructure to enhance night time security.

Ed Kisaka further said that the work ongoing is being funded by GOU with the assistance and support of united Nations Development program (UNDP).

While responding to the venders on Kushaba’s issue, the ED Said that Kushaba was out of office on president Yoweri Kaguta’s Museveni’s directives which she or any kampala leaders can’t handle.

“Honestly, we appreciate the work of leaders like your susan kushaba had been doing in all KCCA markets but as of now, we have the presidential directive which we are following. Actually, even the president is appreciative with the works of kushaba in KCCA while acting as interim chairperson”- Kisaka.

ED Kisaka also responded to attempts by same stalls and lockups owner to exploit venders by charging rental fee.

“President Museveni was very clear in his November letter regarding that matter. Kisaka impolored venders to make use of Jovia Nalunga’s office by always reporting whoever tries to marginalize or mistreat them under the guise of being the  landlord.
