The national unity platform (NUP) will back Alice Alaso, the flag bearer for the alliance for national transformation (ANT) in the upcoming Serere county by-election.
This was revealed by NUP leadership at press conference which took place today 7th Feb 2023 at its Headquarters in kamwokya.
Alice Alaso (sometimes referred to as Alice Alaso Asianut confirmed her return to contest in the Serere county By-Election on ANT ticket after the death of Hon. Patrick okabe who perished in an accident last year.
Alaso is teacher & politician
who was the Woman MP for Serere District in Uganda's eighth, ninth and tenth parliaments.
She was politically affiliated with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and was the party's first Secretary General for ten years.
Also later joined Alliance for National
Transformation (ANT), a political party which is headed by Gen Mugisha Muntu.
The Parliamentary seat for Serere County fell vacant following the death of the former Member of Parliament, the Late Hon. Okabe Patrick, in a motor accident on 19th December 2022.
