Just In: Omoding Emmanuel son to late Bishop Okabe wins Serere County By- election.



Omoding Emmanuel Late Okabe's son has won the Serere County by-election  with 15341 against 13153 Oucur Phillip NRM flag bearer.



Omoding won with 15,638 votes, Ocur Phillip (NRM) came second with 13,290 votes followed by Alice Alaso (ANT) with 3,335 votes, Onguruco Martin (Independent) with 2,523 votes and Eratu Emmanuel (FDC) with 1,252 votes.


The Serere District Returning officer Ms. Sylivia Nangendo Cheptegei having added the number of votes cast as recorded on each declaration of results form in accordance with section 53 of the Parliamentary Elections Act (as Amended) declared Omonding at 9:50pm, having obtained the largest number of votes to be the elected candidate for Serere County Constituency, Serere Electoral District.

The total number of valid votes cast for candidates were 35,954, invalid votes were 812  and the total number of ballot papers counted were 36,766.


Serere county parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Patrick Okabe, the county’s former Member of Parliament. Okabe died in an accident along the Tirinyi- Mbale road on December 19, 2022.
