Our reports on ground have collected enough evidence showing that the newly created MTN reversal option is benefiting fraudster and corn men.
The newly created money reverse option enables user to reverse money sent to a wrong Number.
In this case, the option is being used by wrong people commonly known as "Abafere" who storm shops and stores to buy items and opts to pay by mobile money.
Aisha Akankwasa, a victim from kikubo revealed to us that a client entered her shop and purchased items worthy one million five hundred thousand 1,500,000/- paid via mobile money but later claimed the money back.
"After shopping, the client sent 1.5m on my phone, true the money reflected on my MTN line. After like 10 minutes when he had left my shop, I tried checking my account but surprisingly the figures were not balancing, his 1.5m was missing" - Aisha.
She told us that after contacting MTN customer care, about the incident, she was told that money had been reversed to the person who had sent it to her.
Another hardware dealer by the names of Abud Kakembo was corned three million shillings (3m) in the same was like Aisha of kikubo.
"The client walked in the store and instructed me to load for him Cement and angel bars on his truck, his payments were by MTN mobile money to my mtn number as well. I checked my balance and true the money was reflecting, though at the end of the day as I was balancing, I found out that the 3m was missing"- kakembo.
He said that he called MTN customer care but he was told that money was reversed by the sender.
As professionals, we reached out to MTN customer care but they claimed that they couldn't give us more information about the findings.
