ED Kisaka officiates a Handover of a Solar Power Hybrid System to Uganda School of the Deaf donated by the EU in Ntinda.


European Union through kampala City council authority (KCCA), has today donated over 147 hybrid solar systems to Ntinda school of deaf. 


In a bid to boost the children’s studies that have always been affected during electricity blackouts, communication by sign language to the scholars especially at night had in the past become a major problem to this school.


The handover was officiated by the executive director of Kampala capital city authority (KCCA) madam Dorothy kisaka at the school facility in Ntinda.

Speaking at the handing over of the solar panels to the school, the executive director of kampala capital city authority Dr. Dorothy Kisaka applauded the different contributors that played their roles towards achieving the goal.


Kisaka also revealed that the project was part of the smart city agender specifically in the technological area.


Meanwhile Hon. Namazzi Olive the city education minister expressed her gratitude towards the technical team that noticed the need to facilitate the school of the deaf 

She however expressed concerns over the performance of the students in the school especially in the previous UNEB exams.


The head teacher for uganda school for the deaf Juliet Mary Tumuhairwe thanked the european union for their support to the school.


Uganda School for the Deaf was established in 1959 by the Uganda Society for the Deaf at Namirembe Hill on a leased land from the church of Uganda. The school is a government aided Primary School bringing together all categories of Deaf children, including Deaf children with multiple disabilities.
