Women's Day: "women are the backbone of our society"- VC Dr Muganga.

Dr Lawrence Muganga Vice-chancellor Victoria University: Dear, beautiful and strong women, As we celebrate International Women's Day, I want to take a moment to speak to you from the heart.

Every one of us has a story, a journey, a struggle, and a victory that has made us who we are today.

And I am here to tell you that no matter what your story is, you are beautiful, you are strong, and you are capable of achieving your dreams.

I decided to join the Miss Uganda 2023 beauty contest not just to win a crown or wear a sash, but to use the platform to change the lives of those who need a hand in life.

As a woman, I know firsthand the challenges that we face, especially in Uganda where gender inequality is still prevalent.

I have seen the struggles of my sisters, my mothers, and my friends, and I have decided that enough is enough.

I believe that women are the backbone of our society, and when we empower them, we empower the entire community.

That is why I have chosen to use this beauty contest to raise awareness about women's issues, advocate for gender equality, and inspire young girls to believe in themselves and their potential.

I want to reach out to every woman who feels like she is not enough, who feels like she has to dim her light to fit in, who feels like she is limited by her gender, and tell her that she is enough, she is worthy, and she can achieve anything she sets her mind to.

Let us stand together as women, lift each other up, and create a world where every woman can live a life of dignity, respect, and equality.

Let us be the change we want to see in the world, and let us never give up until every woman has the opportunity to fulfill her dreams.

On this International Women's Day, let us celebrate ourselves and each other, for the beautiful and strong women that we are.

We have come a long way, but the journey is far from over. Together, we can make a difference.
