According to AG-Kiwanuka, he claims that this was the right thing to be done. "Yes I advised the president not to sign on the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023 because it is my duty as the Attorney General of Uganda to legally advise the president accordingly" - Kawanuka noted while on the floor of parliament.

Parliament last month passed the anti-Homosexuality bill 2023 and sent it to president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was supposed to approve it with his signature.

It is now in the hands of the president to make his choice and go with the advise of the attorney general or Sign the bill into law.
