ED Kisaka Opens up on the delay in Re-Construction of KCCA Roads -Read Why!

Several Ugandans have always shown concerns about the bad state of roads in Kampala's capital city. Most of them blamed the management of Kampala's capital City Authority, Particularly the Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka.

We held a one on one with the kampala Excutive director who said that several people criticizing KCCA for not doing roads not knowing  that roads are made with money.

She said Without ignoring funds, KCCA can't do roads.

According to Kcca ED, KCCA has received only 30% of the year's budget for roads.

"How do you do roads without money?  Should kCCA call for a "gwanga mujje"  so that people come out with hoes and dig the roads? without money, the roads will not be done! Period! - Said ED Kisaka

ED kisaka further said KCCA can not perform miracles! If the city continues to be in budgeting, the city will deteriorate. If the city budget continues to be cut, we shall all suffer.

"This next financial year, KCCA has been allocated peanuts to be used for all development efforts in the city! That is 2100km of roads, garbage collections, all infrastructure maintenance, and drainages!   Is KCCA being set up to fail? Who benefits when the city is rotting? Who is sabotaging Kampala? Do you blame the administrators? Your anger is misdirected". ED noted.

She also said the plans of KCCA are clear, Kampala can be a smart city but without budget support it remains a dream.

In conclusion, she reveled to us that KCCA has  35km under KIIDP2. Look at the difference it has made to the city: the Ntinda stretcher road, the Lukuli road, the Acacia road, and all the community roads. This momentum needs to be maintained, not frustrated!

KCCA is changing mindsets with a clarion call. Together, we are building a Smart City!   Let it not be a mockery!

The Smart City Agenda will succeed when it is supported by a smart budget. The people of Uganda deserve this! Our capital city contributes more than 60% of GDP,  support it to create even more
